TundraPack Typical Diet Snowshoe Hare, Moose, Elk, Caribou, the occasional seal, in hard times: fish. Pack Skill Ice Navigation and Hunting Big Game Average Pups in a Litter 1-2, sometimes 3, rarely 4 Typical Appearance Wolves born in TundraPack are generally either white or light gray or silver, but can be a very light brown or a darker gray and can even be tinted a slight blue though this is very rare and is usually the mark of a future Teller. Tundra-born wolves have larger paws to better help them distribute their weight over snow and ice and have thick fur between their pads to better keep their paws warm as well as long, thick fur. They have smaller ears to better keep heat in and a bit blunter muzzles. They're usually from medium to slightly larger in size. Pack Personality TundraPack is the second most mobile pack, next to PlainsPack, since they have to follow the herds of Elk and Caribou as they migrate. They are known for their exceptional Tellers, it seems their Tellers always have a stronger connection to SkyPack than most other Tellers. Since the First Teller came from the tundra, most wolves think there is something mystical about the tundra that channels through TundraPack's Teller. TundraPack is quick to ask for help when they need it and often pushes RiverPack to allow them hunting grounds on the snowy part of their territory, at least in the Winter, though RiverPack will have none of it even though they rarely use it themselves, especially in the Winter. They are one of the more welcoming packs, easily accepting new members.
RiverPack Typical Diet Mainly: fish, Moose, Deer, Beaver, Otter, Frog, Duck, Goose. Pack Skills Swimming and Fishing Average Pups in a Litter 5-6, 4-5 in bad years Typical Appearance Wolves born in RiverPack have the most diverse range of colors of any of the packs. Black and a range of browns and grays are most common, while white and other lighter colors are less common. River-born wolves have larger, webbed paws and long, muscular legs for strong swimming abilities. Their fur is thicker than normal and very water repellent. They have longer and slimmer muzzles better used for catching fish. They are of medium size. Pack Personality All around, RiverPack is a selfish pack, not really caring what happens to the others if their pack is doing well. They never budge on territory boundaries, they intend to keep all they have just the way it is; they never ask for more territory from other packs and expect other packs not to ask for it from them. They are very set in their ways and do not like change. They are also a very proud pack, confident in their swimming abilities and guarding the secret of fishing jealously. The are probably the best fed pack of any pack, having a constant supply of fish to live off of, as well as quite a few other options if they wish to expend the energy to catch bigger prey.
ForestPack Typical Diet Moose, Deer, Rabbit, Squirrel, mice and other small mammals, Possum, sometimes birds. Pack Skill Stalking and Ambushing Average Pups in a Litter 4-5, 5-6 in good years, 3-4 in bad years Typical Appearance Wolves born in ForestPack are generally darker colors like blacks, browns and grays while lighter colors are rare. Forest-born wolves are of medium size in every aspect and have medium length fur. Pack Personality ForestPack is a kind and generous pack during moons of plenty, but guard they borders almost jealously in harder moons. They're actually a very bipolar pack as a whole. Their first priority is to themselves, but when they have a surplus they're glad to share. Their borders change often, depending on the pack's condition. Because of this constant border moving, they're often on the bad side of PlainsPack, since they share a border. Loyalty is very important to ForestPack wolves, though they often easily accept new members. ForestPack wolves aren't afraid to speak out for what they believe in and aren't afraid to go against the Laws of Sun and Moon if they truly believe they are right.
PlainsPack Typical Diet Deer, Rabbit, mice and other small mammals, Quail, Pheasant, and other birds. Pack Skill Hunting Birds and Speed Average Pups in a Litter 3-4, 4-5 in good years Typical Appearance Wolves born in PlainsPack can be white, tan or light brown, silver or light gray, or gold, while darker colors are generally rare. Plains-born wolves have smaller paws and are slimmer and quicker than wolves from other packs. Their fur is thinner than normal and from medium to slightly shorter in length. Their ears are larger than normal to funnel in sounds of small prey rustling in tall grass. They are from medium to smaller in size. Pack Personality PlainsPack is the most protective of their borders, seeing as they share borders with three other packs and have a lot to worry about. They only allow Pharen and ForestPack wolves to travel through if they stick to the small border that runs along the A'va River. They are extremely ferocious to outsiders and do not accept new members easily. Their territory is relatively small and holds little prey other than birds and a couple small herds of deer, so they must keep all they can for themselves if they are to survive. They have perfected their bird hunting techniques to nearly unfailing, catching their intended prey almost every time. They are most comfortable on the move, being the most mobile of packs, having to move often so as not to harvest too many birds from one area or take too many deer from one of the few herds at a time.
DesertPack Typical Diet Antelope, Meercat, Lizard, Snake, Insects and Arachnids, mice and other small mammals. Pack Skill Agility and Digging Average Pups in a Litter 2-3, 1-2 in bad years, rarely 4 Typical Appearance Wolves born in DesertPack have the most exotic color range; they can be white, silver, light gray, tan, gold, as dark as brown or gray, but they are also commonly a beautiful reddish or orange color that no other pack can claim. Black fur is death in DesertPack and even browns and grays are rare. Desert-born wolves have larger paws to distribute their weight over slippery sand and dig out prey. Their pads have developed tiny, rigid hairs that better grip sand and allow them to walk and run easier in the desert. Their fur is very thin and short and their ears are large in order to let out heat and keep them cooler. They have longer, slimmer muzzles to reach down into holes for prey. They are small in size. Pack Personality DesertPack, like RiverPack, is a rather selfish pack, but unlike RiverPack they actually have a reason to be. DesertPack probably has the least amount of prey even when they probably have the largest territory. It's not like in TundraPack, where prey is sparse, but that prey is, for the most part, small and doesn't nourish well. For this reason, DesertPack wolves are most likely the smallest to be found in any pack. They may be small, but they are extremely agile and intelligent; perhaps the most clever of wolves come from DesertPack. They never do anything without thinking it over carefully and weighing the consequences; not to do so could mean death in the desert. They never make deals with other packs unless there's something worthwhile in it for them. They are also the most secluded pack and loyalty is even more important to them than any of the other packs; without loyal members, the pack would never survive in the desert.
MountainPack Typical Diet Elk, Moose, Deer, Mountain Goat, Rabbit, occasionally birds and other small mammals, rarely: Caribou. Pack Skill Climbing and Mountain Hunting Average Pups in a Litter 4-5, 3-4 in bad years Typical Appearance Wolves born in MountainPack have the least diverse range of colors. They are most often a shade of gray, but every so often might be black, white, or tan or brown in color. Being extremely rare, gold-furred wolves are usually the sign of a Teller in MountainPack. Though colors other than gray are rare, black and white are more common. Mountain-born wolves have smaller paws with longer claws to better get into small footholds and grip rocks when climbing. Their fur is slightly longer and thicker to stay warmer at higher altitudes and they are larger in size than most wolves from other packs. Pack Personality MountainPack is genuinely dedicated to ensuring the future of every pack; Sun and Moon will there to be six packs and MountainPack is dedicated to fulfilling Sun and Moon's will. Mountain-born wolves are extremely proud of the fact that they are direct descendants of Storm and Cloud, the First Betas. Having their territory in the mountains, they are the guardians of Mount Sol'una, which is part of the reason they are so devoted to Sun and Moon. They often help the other packs in any way they can, even when they are having their own hard times. They are a very wise pack, 'enlightened' by their connection to Sun and Moon, the other packs often say. They live their lives to better wolfkind. They rarely mark their borders, allowing any wolf to roam through their territory as long as they send a requesting howl and don't take too much prey on their way through.
Jitha Jitha are normally bad-tempered and do not get along well with others. They don't care at all about the Law of Sun and Moon and often like to cause trouble for the Packs, either because they were banished or hold some grudge against them. Since they can come from any Pack, they do not have a set physical description.
Pharen Pharen are generally wolves that left the Pack to either find a life in another Pack (and just haven't found it yet) or Pack life just didn't suit them and they prefer to try and make it on their own. Most just want to be left alone, but some might be wiling to help the Packs if they ask. Like the Jitha, they can come from any Pack and do not have a set physical description.
