General Terms
RP(G)
This is short for RolePlaying(Game), if you don't know what this is, you probably shouldn't be here.
SL
A less used abbreviation, SL stands for StoryLine, which is like an RPG, but it follows a certain plot and rarely deviats from it, it is much more restrictive than an RPG. This site is something in the middle of an RPG and an SL.
OOC
This stand for Out Of Character, which means when you are posting just as you, not as your character.
IC
This means In Character, which is the opposite of OOC.
RT
This stands for Real Time, as in, faes must be pregnant for at least 2 weeks RT before giving birth.
PT
This means Play Time, since time IC usually goes by faster than OCC.
NPC
There are a variety of other terms for this as well, but NPC is the most common. It means, Non Player Character. It's just a filler character that does not require a bio to play and just sort of moves the story along or w/e.
Crown
This is often used in RPGs to refer to someone's head.
Maw
This is often used in RPGs to refer to someone's mouth, usually animal's muzzle.
Mitt/s
This is often used in RPGs to refer to someone's hands or feet, more specifically the paws of an animal.
Daggers
This is often used in RPGs to refer to an animal's teeth or claws.
Orbs
This is often used in RPGs to refer to someone's eyes.
Auds/Auditories
This is often used in RPGs to refer to someone's ears.

Ivories
This is often used in RPGs to refer to someone's teeth, usually an animal's.
Ivory
This is often used in RPGs to replace the color white.
Ebony
This is often used in RPGs to replace the color black.
Wolf Terms
Alpha
The leaders of a Pack, there are two, male and female, that are mates. Their decisions are the Law of the Pack as they were chosen and accepted by SkyPack. They cannot be challenged for their position. They receive 7 lives from SkyPack.
Beta
The Alphas' second in commands, there are two, male and female, that are mates. They help the Alphas do whatever might need to be done, arrange hunting and guarding patrols, and are often consulted when the Alphas are torn on a decision. Alphas value their opinions greatly and highly respect them and will often change their own opinions if their Betas feel very strongly about something. Betas may be challenged for their position, but only with the permission of the Alphas, as the Alphas must trust their Betas, and only if the wolf challenging the Beta has a mate. Most challenges happen between males, but females may challenge for position as well as long as they have a mate.
Teller
A highly respected wolf in the pack, perhaps even more so than the Betas, Tellers have an unbreakable connection with SkyPack and are able to see and interpret their signs. Tellers are also the StoryKeepers of the Pack, as stories of the past are extremely important to wolves. It is their duty to pass these stories on to every new litter of pups, for the wolves have a strong belief that if you do not know your past, then you no longer have a future. Mothers pass on some stories themselves, but there are quite a few designated stories that a Teller must recite for pups, not the mother. Tellers are the spiritual leaders of a Pack, there is only one Teller in each Pack and they are not allowed to mate. A future Teller is marked from birth with either a defect, strange marking, strange fur color, or some other peculiarity that is rare within a pack. (EX: if a wolf is albino, TundraPack is known for its blue-furred Tellers, two different colored eyes, the mark of a star, crescent moon, fish, bird, etc. on the forehead or chest, a physical disability such as blindness, among many other signs.) Tellers also serve as mediators and peacekeepers between Packs, since they are somewhat distanced from Pack rivalries.
Healer
There is one Healer in a Pack and they are not allowed to mate. They have a vast knowledge of herbs and illnesses and are the best suited to treat injuries. Like Tellers, Healers are marked from birth by having a pink nose and green eyes, and are also born with a natural instinct for peace and interest in herbs, as well as a strange ability to heal small wounds such as scratches or coughs with just a lick or a touch, both themselves and those around them. Other wolves might have green eyes or a pink nose, but they are never found together on any wolf but a Healer. When Healers go to be accepted by Leaf and all of SkyPack, their healing ability that they've had since birth is magnified, but only slightly, and it saps an enormous amount of energy from them if they use it too often and to heal extreme wounds and conditions. They are instructed to only use their power in emergencies, like to save a wolf the use of their leg, eyes, or ears. The world has no place for a wolf who cannot fend for themselves (except when dealing with Tellers). Healers sometimes work with Tellers as peacekeepers and mediators, since they have a natural affiliation to peace and wish for the wolves to live in harmony.
Scout
There are two of these in each Pack, a male and female, but they are absolutely not allowed to mate. Scouts are very much elite Hunters, they are the best at tracking, ambushing, hunting, fighting, everything a Hunter normally does. Scouts are also trained in the art of spying and gathering information. They go through rigorous training to better their endurance and speed, strength and agility, more so than any other wolf in the Pack. Their normal duties include scouting ahead for prey when the Pack hunts together, but Alphas may also send them out of Pack territory for reconnaissance. Because Scouts often go out of territory, their pelt coloration is usually much more discreet than other wolves, meaning their color must be something generally accepted by all Packs, the color gray is most common. If another pack saw a strange wolf on their territory, for instance a flame-colored wolf, the Pack would instantly assume that DesertPack was invading or doing something they were not suppose to be doing on their territory since that color fur is associated with DesertPack. The downside to being a Scout is never going to a Meeting, Scout identities must be kept secret from the other Packs and going to a Meeting would give that away.
Hunter
Hunters are all the wolves who do not hold a special position within the Pack, but are important none-the-less. They are the main hunters and defenders of the Pack and without them a Pack would not survive. They also train pups to become Hunters. Hunters can mate with the permission of their Alphas.
Learner
A Learner is a Pup that has reached at least 4 moons of age, however, that is only if you're talking about HigherLearners. HigherLearners are those Pups that were marked from birth for the destiny of either a Teller or a Healer. They start their training at only 4 moons old, but all other Pups start training at 6 moons. Any Pup training to be a Hunter, at the age of 9 moons, if they are surpassing their littermates in all training activities, have the opportunity to become a LearnerScout. They begin training to become a Scout, but if they are not cut out for it, they can just as easily go back to being a Hunter, otherwise both Scouts become the Learner's Teachers.
Pup
A Pup is simply a wolf that is under the age of 12 moons. Yes, 12 moons. However, They are referred to as Learners once they begin their training at either 4 or 6 moons, but the Pack still regards them as Pups until their 12th moon.
Fae
Female
Brute
Male
Phara
Phara is the wolves' name for a loner, one who wishes to live on their own, not doing harm to anyone else, but perhaps helping others if they happen to be in the right place at the right time. The plural or Phara is Pharen. Pharen are usually welcome in Pack territory, so long as they leave as soon as possible or stay on the edges.
Jith
Jith is the wolves' name for a rogue, one who was perhaps banished for doing something horrible, or else lives outside of the Law of Sun and Moon. They are nothing but trouble and every Pack wolf wants only to avoid them if possible. The plural of Jith is Jitha. Jitha will always be chased out of Pack territory if found, and sometimes even killed.
SkyPack
This is the Pack of ancestors that live in the Sky above and watch over the living. Every wolf, if they have lived a good life, eventually joins SkyPack. Sun and Moon, the First Wolves, rule this Pack with kindness.
WaterPack
A sad Pack of lost and lonely souls, WaterPack consists of the spirits of wolves who have died by drowning. They are forever tied to the water. Ice and River rule this Pack with mercy.
FirePack
The Pack where Jitha and evil-hearted wolves' spirits descend after they die. Flame and Shadow, the Betrayers, rule this Pack ruthlessly.
EarthPack
Not technically a true Pack, FirePack, WaterPack, and SkyPack refer to all living wolves with this term. For instance, Moon might say to a new member of SkyPack, "We can only watch over those we have left behind in EarthPack, and hope they will do what is right." (Yeah, I know, cheesy, I just wanted you to see an example....)
Moon
When the wolves say, 6 moons old, they are really saying, 6 months old. So, moons=months. But also, they have a few other words dealing with the moon you might want to know about.
No Moon-This is a New Moon, when you can't see the moon.
Half Moon-The first and third quarters of the moon, when you can see half the moon. There is no special name to differentiate between the two, first or third quarter, they are both just referred to as Half Moon.
Full Moon-This is one is self explanatory, but it's when the moon is completely full and round.
Meeting
Meetings are very important to the Packs, and there are a few different types of Meetings to consider.
Full Moon Meetings-Meetings held in peace between all six Packs every Full Moon. Alphas choose the wolves who will go, Pups (meaning wolves under 12 moons) are not allowed to go. Neither are pregnant or nursing faes and Scouts.
Half Moon Meetings-These are specifically for Healers and Tellers. Healers meet at Meeting Rocks every Half Moon to discuss new cures and illnesses while Tellers meet every Half Moon at the First Den to commune more closely with SkyPack and share any signs that might affect other Packs with each other or try to decipher signs they are having trouble with.
No Moon Meetings-Meetings held for those Packs that wish to try discussing things peacefully before a war breaks out between them. It is mediated by the Lone Elders and held any No Moon the Packs wish to attend it. Somehow, the Lone Elders are always waiting if the Packs do decide to show up. These meetings can often end in scraps between the wolves in each Pack, however, and fewer wolves come because of the danger these meetings could present. Generally, only the Alpha and Beta males attend with perhaps their Senior Hunters and their Teller and Healer to help come to a viable compromise and keep the peace (but also their Healer in case anyone gets hurt).
MistHowler
A wolf with the ability to call Mists to do their bidding, though it can be dangerous if a wolf calls too many Mists at one time, for they might lose control over them and then... well, read the definition of Mist.
Mist
Mists are the souls of wolves who have drowned, in other words, they are the members of WaterPack. Within the water, they act much like any other Pack, but the moment they are called from the water, say, by a MistHowler, they become much like a zombie. They do their 'master's' bidding resentfully, because they have no choice, but if the MistHowler gets cocky and summons too many Mists for them to handle, the Mists can team up and overpower the wolf, leading them to their own death by water. Mists are highly jealous and vengeful creatures when forced to leave their watery domain. It is believed that the scavengers of the water also eat tiny pieces of one's soul and therefore, keep a wolf's spirit tied to the water forever. When Mists appear to other wolves, they appear as a wolf made of mist and look very much like a ghost wolf. (Mists are NPCs, meaning that you cannot make a bio for a Mist, but if your wolf is a MistHowler, you can play any Mist they summon. A notice about Mists, they do not have names and are indistinguishable from each other, whether male or female.)
EmberDancer
An ambitious and cold-hearted fae who is willing to do anything to get what she wants, EmberDancers are called by Flame, the mate of the Betrayer, to the Underworld where she gives them the gift of calling Embers to do their bidding. It is, like MistHowling, a dangerous power to have. EmberDancers are required to sell their soul to Flame in return for this gift, though the moment you accept an invitation to the Underworld, you are doomed either way. Only faes can be EmberDancers.
Ember
An evil-spirited fae who has died, often they were EmberDancers in life. An Ember is not much like a Mist in that it is jealous or vengeful, it is just selfish in and of itself and also ultimately serves Flame, not an EmberDancer. Embers obey EmberDancers merely because Flame wishes it to be so, but if Flame becomes angry with an EmberDancer, those Embers might just as well turn and kill her, turning her into one of them. All Embers are faes. Embers appear as a wolf made completely of fire, though they do not burn everything the touch just because of this, they only burn what they wish to burn, or what their 'master' wishes them to burn. Also, Mists are a weakenss to them. Because they are made of fire, they cannot touch water, which is bothersome for EmberDancers when it is raining, and Mists are made of water and are therefor the only 'wolf' that is able to fight them and win. If an Ember is exposed to water for too long, it disappears, meaning the soul of the wolf that it belonged to also completely disappears, as if it never was.
ShadeSeer
An ambitious and cold-hearted brute who is willing to do anything to get what he wants, ShadeSeers are called by Shadow, the Betrayer, to the Underworld where he gives them the gift of calling Shades to do their bidding. It is, like MistHowling, a dangerous power to have. ShadeSeers are required to sell their soul to Shadow in return for this gift, though the moment you accept an invitation to the Underworld, you are doomed either way. Only brutes can be ShadeSeers.
Shade
An evil-spirited brute who has died, often they were ShadeSeers in life. A Shade is not much like a Mist in that it is jealous or vengeful, it is just selfish in and of itself and also ultimately serves Shadow, not a ShadeSeer. Shades obey ShadeSeers merely because Shadow wishes it to be so, but if Shadow becomes angry with a ShadeSeer, those Shades might just as well turn and kill him, turning him into one of them. All Shades are brutes. Shades appear as wolves made completely of shadow and look much like black ghosts. They have the power to paralyze a wolf and take over their mind by passing through them, though this only happens when their 'master' wishes it to be so. Because they are made of shadow, they can not roam freely in the sun, which is sometimes bothersome to ShadeSeers, but they can flee quickly from shadow to shadow that the sun casts, but until the sun is either blocked by a cloud or it sets, Shades are unnable to move freely about the world. If a Shade is exposed for too long to sunlight, it will disappear, meaning that the soul of the wolf it once belonged to will disappear as well, as if it never was.
MindShifter
A MindShifter is a highly gifted wolf with a multitude of special abilities. It depends on the wolf what type of powers it has, but it is VERY rare. Rumors surrounding MindShifters say different things of thier origin. The are two most common stories. One is that the Early Wolves all had powers like this and that over time, the power just faded out, rarely showing itself among wolves. This story says it is a blessing from Sun and Moon, to show the wolves of EarthPack that they are still watching. The other story is completely opposite, thought it starts the same way. In the beginning, all Early Wolves had some sort of power, but then the Betrayer and his mate, and their son the Deceiver found a way to lock the power away and make the wolves weaker. The power is now released only to those wolves who the Betrayer believes can help him in his evil goals. For this reason, many wolves have mixed feelings about MindShifters. Some are shunned while others are respected, though almost always, they are feared.
MindShifter Powers
Telepathy-The power to communicate through thoughts and feel the prescence of others' minds to a certain distance.
Telekinesis-The power to move objects with only thoughts and without physucally touching them.
Mind Control-The power to control another's mind, this power is usually not very strong in MindShifters, if they can do it at all, and they rarely have enough power to make anyone really do anything. This is more to confuse and disorient than to make others do something against their will.
Mind Sharing-The power of their spirit to leave their own body and travel in another body, seeing through another's eyes. The one they choose to travel in has no idea they are there and while they inhabit another body their body lays limp and useless, almost as if it was dead, and it can be very dangerous. If something were to happen to their body while they were not in it, it would trap them in spirit form forever. While in another's body, the spirit of the MindShifter is nothing more than a passenger and it can do nothing to the being they travel with.
Summoning-The ability to summon Embers and Shades without the permission of Flame and Shadow. This is a rare power, but it does happen, while WaterHowling is a common power among MindShifters. Some wolves believe that WaterHowlers are just very weak MindShifters, but it is not a fact.
FreeAugur
These are wolves who were born with the mark of a Healer of Teller, often times both, but had no place in their Pack or were born to Pharen or Jitha parents. No wolf knows why they exist, but they are usually very friendly and willing to help out any wolf who seeks them out. They are known for their healing ability and close connection to SkyPack. Often times, they attend the Half Moon Meetings of the Pack Healers and Tellers to share their own news with them. These wolves, like MindShifters, are extrememly rare.
TurnFang
The wolves's word for Traitor, one who betrays their Pack.
Bird-brain/ed
The wolves's word for someone who is very stupid.
*If you come across any other terms that I use on the site that you are confused about, post the term here and I'll put up a definition for you. Or, if you know some others that would be good for others to know, post them here as well.
